Tweet and blog 31/5/2018 II 别犯民主大忌

Tweet and blog   31/5/2018   II

Tweet and blog 31/5/2018 Mirrors that reflect

Tweet and blog  31/5/2018     Mirrors that reflect
1990s Dr M was the curse and shame to the finance and economy in the Federation of Malaysia.  Sarawak and Sabah were at the expense of his one-man rule.  Many constitutional laws underwent changes and amendments during his tenures for 22+ years.  If I am mistaken, there were 770 times.  (Check it for me, please.)  Everyone fell victim to his wild actions in many privatisation and white elephant projects.  It is believed that he reaped all the profits and interests in the form of shares, dividends and cashes.  It is believed that he has the cash in trillion in ringgit hidden in banks somewhere in the world.  It is believed that he used at least one billion taxpayers’ money in RM to help his 3 sons build their careers.
Ascension of Najib to the post of PM in 2009 up to 9May2018 is another curse and shame to the finance and economy in the Federation of Malaysia.  We Sarawak and Sabah again have fallen prey to his immoral and evil actions and behaviours.
In the eye of the laywo/man, he has used taxpayers’ money to run his private business in the name of 1MDB.  He has amassed megawealth through this business entreprise and other related ones at the expense of all the people except his cronies.  Now the debts he has created have piled up to RM in trillion.
Now PH government is anxious about the condition and going to set up Trust Fund to appeal for donations to pay for the debts in trillion created by Najib irresponsibly.  Is it fair to the people?  To me laws should be passed to make PM or ministers who use the taxpayers’ money to invest at a loss to pay 80% of the loss incurred.
What is more viable is to confiscate the ill-gotten wealth of Najib and his cronies to pay for the debt.  To be fair and square, I suggest the PH government to request other countries to help to get back all the embezzled money by all the political thugs since 1990s.  I believe that at least 4 trillion in RM could be retrieved in the process.

Chong wants open tender for Coastal Road, Second Trunk Road projects

Chong Chieng Jen
KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan (PH) state chairman Chong Chieng Jen is urging the state government to stop the direct award of the Coastal Road Project and the Second Trunk Road Project without first calling for open tender for the projects.
He said the Coastal Road Project is estimated to cost RM5 billion and the Second Trunk Road Project   RM6 billion, adding that both projects will be funded by the state government.
“For the Coastal Road Project, it is from Sebuyau to Betong, covering a distance of 92 km, including a few bridges.   For a project of 92km of road building or expansion, even with the construction of a number of bridges, RM5 billion is still extremely expensive.   It is approximately RM52 million per km,” Chong exclaimed.
“It is shocking that for projects of such magnitude, the Sarawak state government did not call for open tender and is now in the process of awarding them to two different companies,” said the Stampin MP, who is also DAP Sarawak chairman.
He thus called upon Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing to be accountable and explain to Sarawakians why no open tender was called for the two huge projects.
“James Masing should learn the lesson from the dire state of financial affairs of the federal government. It is such rampant practice of direct award of mega projects which has resulted in the draining of our federal coffer that we are now in debt of more than RM1 trillion,” Chong stressed.
“Our state’s reserve fund is only RM30 billion. The Chief Minister is now contemplating the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) train with an estimated cost of RM11 billion. James Masing is now embarking on these two projects with an estimated cost of RM10 billion,” he said.
“At the rate this is going, very soon, within five years, our state’s reserves will be totally depleted,” he claimed.
Chong said DAP Sarawak is now calling on Masing, firstly, to stop the award of the said two projects to the two intended contractors of his (Masing) choice.
Secondly, he wants the contract broken into smaller packages so that more contractors can be involved and thirdly, to call for open tender for all the packages so that the people get value for the money spent on the said projects.

My comments:
The once UMNO-BN manipulated PBB-led government with its minor parties like Parti Rakyat Sarawak/PRS, Sarawak United People's Party/SUPP and Progressive Democratic Party/PDP has been in power and monopoly for too long.  These political thugs have forgotten their roles but to serve people to be people-centred and people's interests to be their No. 1 concern instead of the leaders-centred and interests.
For 3 decades + 3 years, Taib Mahmud and his cronies plundered, raided and exploited Sarawakians at will.  I haven't counted the pieces of land in hectares owned solely by his 4 children and other pieces of land owned by his relatives, friends and cronies.  This man is too smart to be caught red-handed like Najib and his wife.   In the age of internet, he still cannot escape from the scrutiny from others from the whole-wide world.  We need the help of whole world to catch him for his abuses of power and embezzlement.  The internet should have the report of the mega ill-gotten wealth he has amassed.
Abang Johari, the current Chief Minister of Sarawak, I believe, is a puppet to him.  Taib Mahmud still wields the real power.  Many people also say so.  It is not without base.  The change of federal government from BN to PH, he went with Abang Johari and .. to see Dr. M the new PM, the next day with an ulterior motive obvious to all.
Majority of people just feel disgusted over the practices of monopoly and all kinds of abuses.  It is disgusting to see James Masing going to award the said two mega projects costing about RM10-11billion just to two companies instead of 10 over companies in the open tender.  We know that they still practise the ex-UMNO-BN habits to award the projects to an interested group and then sub-contract, sub-contract, sub-contract ....out.  The ones in the process plunder and plunder and plunder and plunder.... just with a pen to endorse the documents.
Hence, on behalf of all the concerned Sarawakians, i hope James Masing, will reconsider his intention to award the said two mega projects to two companies instead of 10 over companies in open tender.
Yes, people are waiting eagerly for a change of government for good.  I strongly believe that people are set for a change for the better tomorrow of Sarawak whether you like it or not.   Time is up for them.  People are ready to vote them out.  Just wait and see.

1 child down with cancer every 5 days in Sarawak

      Lim How Pim, reporters@theborneopost.com
KUCHING: At least 50 children in the state are diagnosed with cancer annually, said Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) manager Jodie Sim.
“In Sarawak, one child is diagnosed with cancer every five days. That makes about 50 to 60 new cases a year,” she told reporters covering the Satellite Shave organised by Toyota Boulevard Jaya Sdn Bhd and SCCS yesterday.
Given the grim statistics, Sim opined that parents should be better educated with the signs and symptoms of cancer as early detection and better access to medical care nowadays would help in survival rates.
To create and enhance awareness, she said SCCS would organise an awareness campaign ‘Gold Ribbon Week’ at Plaza Merdeka here from Sept 21 to 27, in conjunction with the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month that is celebrated every September.
“Our members will be at the Centre Court, Plaza Merdeka, from 10am to 10pm daily during the Gold Ribbon Week.
“Many people know about Go Bald, but they may not know why. We want to let the people know why we are organising it.”
She said a blood donation campaign would take place from 11am to 4pm on Sept 26 in connection with the cancer awareness week.
“A lot of blood is needed for cancer patients, so we are organising one blood donation drive to urge families of cancer patients to pay back to the Blood Bank.
“On Sept 27, we will launch an SCCS documentary, which took us about two years to film.
We want to let people know about what SCCS is and what we are doing.”
Sim added that a cancer awareness talk would be held at Borneo Medical Centre here on Oct 13.
Among the topics to be covered is bone marrow transplant, she said, as many people have the wrong impression about this medical procedure.
“The talk will clear the myths about bone marrow transplant and how people can become donors.”
On the Satellite Shave, she said Damai Beach Resort would be having one at the resort’s pool this coming Aug 30.
Those interested to participate can contact Damai Beach Resort.
With now close to 900 members, SCCS needs some RM1.5 million every year to cover annual operating expenses, but its Go Bald campaign thus far this year raised only about RM800,000.
According to Sim, the Society runs a support and care centre in Desa Wira here. The centre is capable of accommodating 13 patients at any one time.
“We provide free accommodation, send patients to the Sarawak General Hospital, and offer food as well. Our new centre in Miri will be ready in the last quarter of the year.
“We will need more money once the centre in Miri begins its operation. Besides, SCCS hopes to start one centre in Sibu.”
A press statement issued by SCCS said childhood cancer is now the leading cause of death among children and adolescents in developed and developing countries.
“In some countries, deaths due to childhood cancer are more than the combined deaths from all types of childhood illnesses.
“However, childhood cancer is considered a ‘modern day miracle’ due to the significant increase in survival rates, especially in developed, high income countries. With awareness and support, let us push for better access to care for children with cancer.”

 My comments:

Tweet and blog  29/5/2018   Going Bald
Going bald for cancer children is indeed a good deed to perform.  I can see that more and more people are pulled to perform the deed.  No doubt, it is encouraging to carry out the activity one after another more frequently than ever before.  The organiser of the activity is committed to the cause.  It is no doubt good to perform.
But I think what is as important is to find out the causes of the problem.  Find out Why One child in every five days in Sarawak is down with cancer.
I wonder how much financial support the Sarawak government has contributed to Sarawak Childhood’s Cancer Centre.  The participation of the government is very, very, very, very …..important.  The contribution should be  70% government and 30% from the public.  Otherwise, it is not fair to the public who have already paid so many kinds of taxes.  Besides, having the government participation and contribution will push them to find out the causes of the problem as they have the resources to carry out investigation and research.
Besides, I also suggest that the society be CAT enough to make the accounts transparent and accountable to uphold the principle of credibility.
