Reasons Why

*Points to Points (30)
                                                Reasons Why
I wonder why our government would rather spend billions on scholarship to send thousands of SPM/ STPM students who got straight As annually overseas for high education than build more national universities in Malaysia to cater the needs of students of various standards.
I can, for sure, say that more and more  Malaysians who share this view condemn this education policy which favours a minority at the expense of great majority.  It is trickily bloody.
This is a good point for the Ministry of education to ponder on.  This is a strong reason for the de-orientation of the people.  No doubt people despise the government who fail to deliver.
When more and more people become aware of the defects and shortcomings of the ruling party coalition; when more and more people wonder if there is any room left for self-improvement / correction; it is just too natural for them to opt for the opposition party who offers better quality of service and practice.  I am very sure that more and more people are in favour of bi-partisans, knowing that competition of the two parties will enable people to reap all the possible benefits delivered to them.

Cognition on Flood Mitigation

*Points To Points (28)
                             Cognition on Flood Mitigation
The ‘ge da’ (哥大) of the Visionary Team of Sibu once again invited the expert from China to Sibu  to talk about flood mitigation.  To be more correct, it is to discuss about the building of embankment (1) to shield off the Sibu domain from the menace of floods.  What will happen to the opposite side of the bank with the embankment, well, they assume the deluge could go elsewhere.  They are just too ignorant to think holistically.  It is well understood why Wong Soon Koh, Wong Siu Hieng and the other experts are condemned.
Since 2001 up to now April, 2008, I don’t know how many times, Sibuans have
Suffered the menace of floods and how much loss has occurred in these frequent flood disasters.  I wonder how much more Sibuans have to endure the threat of even more frequent floods before they have come to the final decision.
They said they had started drafting since 1998!  It is 10 years long already.  They have been stone deaf to hear people’s constant plead to dredge the strategic points of the river which are silted up by long years of disposition of soil.  They seem blind to the heavy siltation at many places in the river.  At some places, the siltatin is so serious that you will see sandbars and islands in the river.  I wonder how long the river has been neglected.  I doubt what the River Management Board has been doing as a caretaker.  Is it another agency set up for nothing but wasting rakyat’s money?
Wong Soon Koh said these phenomena to be nature-induced much against people’s knowledge about it to be man-induced cause.  He thought he could still bluff and blablabla………. at will like before.  He really underestimated people’s cognition.
I don’t know what he attributed the cause of heavy siltation of the Rejang River to be nature-caused problem out of ignorance or with the intention to cover up.  Only when the people stood up and out one by one to pin-point out the real causes of siltation and power of the collective consensus of the people, then he seemed to come to his senses a little bit.  But he still insisted the siltation of the Rejang River to be nature-caused.  Dredging the river and straightening the river were considered very much against the act of Nature.  Believe me, he still believes building the embankment and is fully charged in favour of this measure with the mind so focused on RM 400 million at the disposal.
Tiong Tai King only believes in layering up the roads regardless of the surrounding houses still a few feet below and are subjected to flood menace.  He is ambitious for the allocation of money for more layering up of the roads to prevent floods from flooding the roads!  Like Wong Soon Koh, he is also more interested in more money related business in flood mitigation.
Saving the river from further abuse and neglect is not their business.  I wonder if he has ever questioned about indiscriminate logging at the upper reaches of the river.  He and his extended family is engaged in timber business (2).  Here is the conflict of interests.  Robert Lau, Wong Soon Koh and Tiong Tai King are one in mind and heart for embankment and road bunking to prevent floods with RM400 millions at the disposal.
Robert Lau so said (26/4/08 The Borneo Post), that it was not good to waste the State government money for dredging as it might prove futile.  He insisted that a lot of money would be wasted through dredging.  Does he care how much loss has occurred to the Sibuans and how much more loss Sibuans have to face in  even more frequent floods?  He is too government-oriented and speaks only official language.
I don’t know how many times people have appealed and repeated that the government can actually save a lot of money if they issue licences (exempted from tax) for dredging and if needed to subsidise the contractors to certain extent.  Look, this is the main problem when these leaders / political players totally deny the viability of alternative measure.  I can assure 99% of the people are in favour of dredging so that the river is forever navigational and serves the people as well as before.
Well…………., I think we, as an individual should learn to be more responsible and take more active role in saving the river.  We just can’t rely on these political players / clowns and the government led by Taib Mahmud.  The river has deteriorated to such an appalling condition due to a long period of abuse and neglect.  We should make the government led by Taib Mahmud to be accountable.  This river belongs to everybody and is forever important to us.  To make sure that it is forever living and alive, every individual and the government should give it due care and protection.  The government should enforce the stringent law to protect it.  We need this river for transportation and so dredging should be the best measure to make it navigational.
To save the Rejang River, we don’t have to stop all the development activities upstream as declared by some political players/ clowns.  It is but stop PLUNDERING way of development.  It is to stop indiscriminate logging for various economic activities.  It is to adopt a sustainable development.  It is also about proper planning and regulations imposed on all kinds of economic activities to prevent further abuse of the land.
As long as we can mitigate soil erosion, we can ensure the flow of the river.  Of course, we should have enough contractors engaging in the regular dredging and clearing of the river.  Our experts insisted that dredging was not a long term measure for siltation.  Why not?  I wonder how much research they had done to declare that dredging was useless.  They said after dredging, siltation could accumulate to the same level in 3-4 months’ time.  I wonder if they can tell us how long it takes for the sandbars to form.
I think these experts and the leaders of visionary team are just too embankment- focused with RM 400 million (3) in the view to see other more viable measures.  The over-zealous and eagerness with the idea of building embankment with RM 400 million makes me think that they are well-charged with ulterior motives to reap the benefits from the allocation.
We may not know the complexity of the process / procedure of granting projects to contractors.  But we know there are commissions in % to earn in the success to gain the projects, big and small.

Notes:
1.  Without enough research done, these experts and political clowns are ever ready for
building embankment against the will of the people.
2.  Robert Lau, Wong Soon Koh and Tiong Tai King are one in heart and mind of
building embankment and layering up the roads to solve flood woes.
3.  Earning commissions in % is an open secret.  Who will admit he can reap  benefits
     in the process?

People's concerns

*Points To Points (27)
                         People’sconcerns
People as I know are not bothered whether the Opposition party knows how to mitigate floods or not (1).  After all, flood mitigation is not their responsibility at all.  Their duties are to monitor, give suggestions, pin-point out the faults of the ruling party and so on.
People are really worried to know how serious the leaders of the ruling party are in mitigating floods.  People are really upset to know that the representatives of the Sibuans are just too busy and indulgent in different kinds of functions and activities to think of flood mitigations.  The SUPP has been in existence for 38+ years.  I wonder how much they have done to mitigate floods in Sibu?
The Sibuans, young and old, have borne witnesses of floods, big ones and small ones, come and go so frequently.  Sibu is so often irrigated with water overflowing the banks of the Rejang River.   How dared you to hang up the banner to bluff that “SUPP can mitigate floods”?   You even mocked at the leaders of the opposition party knew nothing about flood mitigation but frolicking with water.  Wei……, did you know what responsibilities and duties of the ruling party are?  No doubt, more and more people start condemning SUPP and BN.
To tell you the truth, Sibuans are really fed up with  the ploys of the ruling party to woo people when the state / national elections are approaching.   The ploys the SUPP, the component party of BN used to woo the innocent and ignorant people in Sibu are an open secret.  Building / Repairing the bridges, layering up the roads, allocating funds ………. have been the ploys used again and again.  Heeeeeeeeeee……………….(sinister way) , it is the ‘tricky policy on the fools’ you employ.
The 9th Malaysia Economic Plans (January, 2007) has started over a year, how much have you done to mitigate the floods, big and small?  If you have forgotten, many people can still remember how heavy 12th -14th December, 2007 floods were in Sibu.  There were other floods following in February and March, 2008.  Inefficiency and procrastination have become the unique characteristics of the ruling party (2).
We are given Ringgit Malaysia 4 billion allocation (3) for flood mitigation and we, Sibuans, young and old, all bear witness.  We beg you to plan and utilise the fund wisely so that 2011 state election and 2013 national election you have the results to win.
Remember flood mitigation is not just layering up the roads.  First, it is but to build concrete drains; big drains for big roads and small drains for small drains.  Adhere to the standard measurement.  All the drains, of course, must be well connected to ensure the flow of the water to the sea quickly and smoothly.  Second, the river needs frequent dredging(4).  Third, just as some people suggested to plant trees on both the banks of the Rejang River are to be build to prevent water spilling and soil erosion.  Planting trees is more viable than bunds/ embarkments.
In the past, you may blame the federal government for not allocating enough funds (5) that you couldn’t do much in the overall flood mitigation.  But now you have so much fund at our disposal, you can indeed solve the problem once and for all.  This is really a good chance for the Visionary Team in Sibu to show how capable you are.  If you lost this chance to prove, I am afraid this is your end.  I can tell you on behalf of the people in Sibu:  a high % of people have lost the patience.  Robert Lau and Tiong Tai King just won in the election ………. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeee ……….(sinister snickering)  (6)
It does not matter if the opposition party can’t establish a university in Sibu.  We are very frustrated when our government can’t perform either but often bluff a lot.
Well, Robert Lau have represented Sibu 15 + years;  Wong Soon Koh _____ years(?)(7);  Tiong Tai King _______ years (?).  Why haven’t you lobbied a national university for Sibu?  Sibuans don’t want private colleges / universities (local/ foreign).  We have paid so many kinds of taxes and we really don’t want to pay so much for higher education in private colleges and universities.  The BN government has been in existence for 50+ years, I wonder how many seats you can offer to the SPM and STPM students seeking for high education in national colleges and universities?
Look at Taiwan, the Republic of China, an island, has an area 10+ less than Malaysia, little available natural resources and yet they have many folds more national universities than ours
It is said KTS in Sibu is willing to donate 2000+ hectares of land for building the university.  Speak out for a national university to be built in Sibu.  In this way, we have University of Abdul Rahman in Bintango and a national university in Sibu.  The two universities can have different courses to offer to the people in Sarawak and other places.  Isn’t it nice to become a hub of education in South-east Asia?

Notes:
1.  If you really want to find out whether the Opposition party can
mitigate floods or not, please let go of the power you weird.
Please don’t try all means, (by hook or by crook) to win the
election.  Swear if you dare that you didn’t go to that length to
‘buy votes’.  You didn’t need so much propaganda to lure the
people to believe that you were better.
2.  Tell us how many government projects were completed
accordingly at date-due.  Can you still remember the Durin bridge?
It was planned to be completed in 3 and a half years but was
delayed until about 10 years to complete due to lack of funds.
It was not known how much work had been completed when the
fund allocation was ‘stolen’.  It had to wait
for another fund allocation and so took about 10 years to
complete, instead of 3 and a half years.  Alamak! what a curse!
What a shame!  Another case which is still fresh in my memory is
the Kuching State prison, the same problem occurred.  It was not
known, either how much the work had been completed when the
money was ‘stolen’ all long.  Count how many projects faced
     the same problems since independence?
3.  Please take good care of the fund for flood mitigation.  Don’t ever
let it be ‘stolen/ reduced’ through abuse, poor management,
corruption and collusion.  More and more people know how

abusive and corrupt the ruling party is.  More and more Chinese
refuse to support SUPP because they almost equate SUPP to abuse,
corruption and collusion.  They are good for nothing.
4.  Flood mitigation = build the cement drain, dredge the river bed,
and (build the bunds/embankments).  How much have been done
to solve this equation?  No matter how often the Sibu people
plead for the actions.  Their pleads always fall to the deaf ears.  I
wonder what Robert Lau and Tiong Tai King really represent Sibu.
(They care  nothing but their self-interest/benefit and official rank).
I see this  to be people’s faults and folly for the choice of them.
5.  As far as I know there have been lack of transparency in almost all
the government projects.  Hence it is often unknown how much
the allocation; how much have been done according to the quality
and standard requirements; how much fund has been ‘stolen’?
6.  I don’t know how many % they won by hook/by crook and how
many % was because of the ignorance of the people.  I found that
quite a number of the people in Sibu can’t see beyond the
superficial acts of ‘these political clowns’.  The acts:  moving
schools, getting fund allocation, constantly highlight the great
efforts made in the development of education…….  (Many ignorant
people were confused over whose responsibilities as a ruling
party.)  A good representative and a good system of government
is to follow the policy to develop the education and implement
different forms of development based on the needs of the rakyat.
It is not to please the people during the election campaign to win
the votes.  People want the representatives to speak up in the
state / national assembly for systematic fund allocations to help
the Chinese primary schools and Chinese Independence schools

7.  Wong Soon Koh and his consortium own a private college in Sibu.
It is near to impossible to expect him to lobby for a national
     university of the Sibu people.

8.  The future of Sibu is in the hand of everyone of us. Be more alert
and think critically and analytically so as to cast the vote wisely.
Remember the old Chinese proverb, “When the stork struggle with
the clam in the fight, the fisherman gained eventually.”  Do you
want to be the fisherman?  In a democratic country, do you want
to be a true master?  We need an alternative party to counteract
the ruling party so that the ruling party will be on their toes all the
time to serve people.   After election, I wonder if these political
clowns still can remember their promises to the people.

Sarawak, for the late 27 + years under the leadership of Taib
Mahmud, I wonder how much has been done to mitigate floods in
Sibu.  Have they found the causes for the more frequent and
serious floods in Sibu?  Does it have something to do with the
     plundering ways of development?
