Year of tourism 2014

Year of tourism 2014                   25/5/2013
2014 is made year of tourism.   Do we have the basic infrastructure facilities to make the year of tourism a success?  If our tourists only want to visit city/ town areas, we are more or less ready.  But if our tourists want to go around to experience nature deep in Sarawak/elsewhere  and want to travel on land by bus/ train/other means of transport,  are we on the mark?  In Sarawak, we don’t have even One proper road system called [Highway] in a real sense.   How well connected is it to Sabah,  Brunei and Kalimatan?
If tourists are coming to Sarawak, they almost always come by plane, not by ship, right?  I wonder how tourists friendly are  the flights in terms of frequency, choice  and cost.
When tourists coming to a place/ Sarawak, I believe they want to experience something unique , special, exciting, historical, original, traditional in nature and our natural environment and forests should be their No. 1 attraction.
Do we have these tourist spots to offer?  And do we have the easy access to these places?
As a local tourist, I would like to travel by train/bus to get into the deepest part of Sarawak.  Do we have a  good road access / railway system to reach this place?  I always feel sorry and very very sorry when Taib Mahmud and his cronies (74) have no sense of urgency and the road construction is under the few companies controlled /gripped by them.  Not long ago, he told Baram communities, the proper road would only reach them in 2030.  Alamat!  What a curse!  What a pity!  What a shame!
If PR were in power now, they could build the whole system in dual carriage in 5 years asking 80 companies to do the work, not that few 3-5 companies to do so.  It is just too monopolising to do the work fast and well.  I believe there is a lot of amassing /embezzling in the process.  People say and I also believe that he is in possession of RM632+billion ill-gotten money.   I wonder why out MACC (Malaysia Anti-corruption Commission)  has not done anything effective to bring him to court.  I hope they will question him like they did to Teo Ben Hock.
I wonder why he is above the law when he jeered at MACC for being ‘naughty /obstinate ’  and refused to cooperate when he was questioned  by somebody in the case when he was caught red-handed in the act of abuse in the video clip [the Global Witness].
Whenever I think of the infrastructure facilities we lack of, I just cannot help but blame and curse the BN government at both the state and federal levels.   I don’t think tourists are interested in how big our supermarkets and hotels are;  how well spread out and the varieties our eateries are.
Our hotels, supermarkets, eateries and very big smiles /grins are all secondary though they are also important to impress our tourists.   The easy access to the places of interest,  means and cost of transport, comfortable and safe accommodation and other facilities should be our main concerns.   Right?
