Points to Points (14) When more = less
It is not the
number and variety of flowers, plants and trees on the roadside that will
invoke people to appreciate. But it is
the convenience of parking bays at the right distance apart for road users to
go for a break from driving for many reasons without obstructing the traffic
flow. It is natural for people to feel
grateful with this understanding.
It is not how ‘garden-like’ our town,
city and country should look that will attract the people. It is the consideration our authorities
concerned show towards our motorcyclists with the construction of motorcyclist
lanes. It is statistically proved that
our motorcyclists like pedestrians and bicyclists are the most vulnerable on
the road. They always rank No. 1 in
fatal road accidents. It is the safety
of motorcyclists to be our priority.
What can be more precious than life?
It is not how pretty our town, city
and country should appear. It is how
much has been done to straighten and improve the bends and curves for the
safety of our road users.
It is not how impressively our town,
city and country should present. It is
how much has been done to adjust the gradient of the road for the safety’s
sake.
It is nothing to show off and bluff
how extensive our road system is. It is
how well-maintained and how low the accident rate our road system is is
something worth trumpeting.
It is not how luxuriously our town,
city and country should be viewed. It is
how decent and hygienic the living conditions people are subject to.
It is not how accurately you record the
number of road fatalities in statistics to prove your efficiency. It is how much effort you put in to identity
the causes and reduce the fatalities to its minimum.
It is not how often you repeat in
words about how much you have done for the people. It is time that you should know the proverb,
‘Actions speak louder than words’. Words
are expected to be followed by concrete effort and evidence of your words. It is ‘Seeing is believing.’ (It is seeing the quality product to
establish the trust.)
It is not how frequent you party and
enjoy the fun around to be popular. It
is how self-disciplined, well-versed, considerate, concerned (about the welfare
of the people), helpful and how people-friendly you are to win the hearts of the mass.
It is not how well you know how to
persuade to gain support and respect. It
is how much time you spend on self-reflection, to acquire knowledge and
information and how much you care to know and understand the needs of the
people to gain the respect.
It is not how often you present
yourselves in political meetings to show how much you represent the
people. It is ‘A leader in need is a
good leader indeed’. Speak out (Trumpet
if you think is better.) and fight for the rights to be compensated for the
people for the loss they suffer in floods, culling of the poultry to prevent
the spread of the disease, natural disasters and the like. Remember ‘Silence is not golden’ in this
respect, understand!.
It is not to show-off and impress how
capable you are to line the streets with trees and potted plants and deprive
people of parking bays. It is the
conducive environment you can provide to people to carry on their lives at
ease.
It is not to spend taxpayers’ money on
the useless structures that will only make our town too congested. It is to make a careful planning how to spend
the taxpayers’ money wisely for the benefit and well-being to as many people as
possible.
It is not.................... It is
