Another place so exposed is Kpg Beliong which is about
70km from Kuching and is still dependent on river as “their main mode of transportation”
“Despite vast development in its surroundings" the 1000 odd population
still have to depend on river as they are cut off from the main road.
Ya, daily whether sunny/rainy, they have
to cross 2km wide Beliong River to get to the nearest town, Asajaya / Kota
Samarahan to work or to sell their farm products.
Bustari Ibrahim, 64, local councillor, said the folk
have been dependent on the river since the establishment of the town 94 years
ago. So they have been neglected for so long. How many can live that long?
This is again about “the missing link of road /bridge” that prevents the
people from all the conveniences of life they rightly deserve.
Besides they also
need a community hall for different activities and hope to have 2km road to be
tar-sealed as soon as possible, too.
When your representatives are not reliable, trustworthy and
responsible, the people must be daring enough to come forwards to cry and shout for your
rights.
