On corruption, collusion and marginalisation

Point to Point (21)
                   On corruption, collusion and marginalisation
Cher………………….Kharid, don’t divert people’s attention on the issue of corruption and collusion by raising the issue of marginalisation.
Well, we shall discuss the issue of marginalisation in details after we have enough discourse on corruption and collusion, the No. 1 enemy to the progress and well-being of a country.
Did you know that people regardless of creed, race and religion are interested in knowing how you can amass so much wealth in such a short span of time?  Someone said you are smart, so you have amassed so much wealth in such a short time. Well, I bear witness, smarter persons than you but they got less than 1/10,000 of your wealth.
Hei, Khalid, one hand touches the holy book, Quran and the other hand touches your heart, then you swear if you dare that you gained so much wealth through the honest means.  It is not your relation with PM Abdullah and have all the accesses to all the advantages, har…….
Swear and say:  I am honest.  I wonder if you dare.  Dr. M blared and declared, “Corruption in the air”
He……….. Khalid, wash your mouth and watch your words before you flare.  Did you know people regardless of creed, race and religion glare in defiance at your wealth.
You had better be more well-prepared to explain from when and where you have accumulated so much wealth in such a fantastic short time.  Did you deprive many and many people of a fair portion through your partake of a lion’s share?  Are you scared of being probed and investigated like the son-in-law of President Ah Bian in Taiwan?
Don’t, don’t snare at people who want to know more about corruption and collusion.
Don’t, don’t ‘marginalise’ the issue of corruption and collusion, our No. 1 enemy to the progress and well-being of the country.
Har….. Khalid, by raising the marginalisation of the Malay race in Penang won’t abate people’s glare on the issue of corruption and collusion which affect people regardless of creed, race and religion.
Because of corruption and collusion, we have poor medical service.
Due to corruption and collusion, we have poor quality roads and bridges.
Did you know the Durin bridge in Sibu, Sarawak which actually needed 2-3 years to complete but it has been built about 10 years and has not completed yet.  It is an open secret that the fund allocation has been “pick-pocketed” all the time.  Hence they always said the authority concerned lacked the fund to complete it and had to wait for next allocation of fund.  So the bridge is so delayed and so far behind the other 2 bridges which started so much later.  The Durin bridge by no means any longer than the other two.  The other 2 bridges built so much later by some private companies have already started operating.
Due to corruption and collusion, people are subjected to poor living conditions.
Due to corruption and collusion, many of our school buildings, especially the Chinese primary schools are far below the standard set for Vision 2020.  The ones which look up to the standard with so much were paid out of the pockets of the Chinese community.   Imagine the Chinese have paid enough taxes but they still need to pay some more to upkeep the education premises.  Is it a fair practice?  Please touch your heart and Quran to express your viewpoint on justice and justification.

(Hei………Hisammuddin, why did you fret and fuss when Mr Ong Sii Kiat revealed
the truth of corruption and collusion of the fund allocation for repairing those 2
           Chinese Primary school?)
(Her………..Mustapha, why did you simply apologise to Hisammuddin for Mr. Ong
Sii Kiat for nothing?  Did you know that you made a fool of yourself when  you
apologised to the thundering noise of Hisammuddin?

Corruption and collusion are widespread at government agencies, of course, the education department is not spared.  It has a long history.  It is an open secret, lah.

(He……. Hisammuddin, are you scared of being probed and investigated?)
(The two cases revealed by Mr Ong Sii Kiat proved to be true.  Are you going to
apologise to him?    Nger……   Don’t act abusive again!  Listen and keep cool
until the investigation has come to an end and with the report before you give
your comments if you want to earn your respect from the people.  You are
incredibly arrogant and aggressive, har……...  Who are you?  Is it a democratic
country?  Why did you behave as if you were vested with special right and
power to condemn Mr Ong, har……..and Mustapha had to condescend himself to
that extent in order to pacify you, har………..?  Don’t behave like a spoilt rotten
brat again.)  (Easy and luxurious life, no doubt, breeds spoilt rotten brat!)

Hei, Mr Abdullah, please prove to us in action that you are really serious to
eliminate corruption and collusion.  You have encouraged people to tell the truth.  That is why you have had high rating as a PM in our hearts.  But please be well-prepared to listen to the truth.  Otherwise, the truth can’t be told as “truth”.  Nobody wants to pay a heavy toll for telling the truth.
You have to know the truth first before you can set for action, right.  So you know any acts or policies that deter or discriminate people need rectification in order to create an environment not easy for the practice of corruption and collusion to take place.  We want to uphold the practice of democracy and people view the importance of transparency in all aspects of life to align with the practice of democracy.
How come, it is said (Which deputy minister say so, please find out for me, friends), no new Chinese or Indian primary schools will be built under the 9th Malaysian Plan against the wishes of your fellow countrymen?  What grade of democracy is it?  Check the education fund allocation, do you think it is fair with the amount allocated to the Chinese and Indian primary schools in relation to the total amount of the fund?  Show it, don’t be shy.  Please set up a committee to assess / evaluate the fairness in practice.  Look, marginalisation indeed applies well in education fund allocation to the Chinese primary schools.
On top of that, fund allocation is often ‘hijacked’ with the evidence to prove.  The recent case of RM 30,000 became 3,000 and another case of heavy hack (Please refer to the relevant authority for another case facing the same problem at more or less the same time. )  These two cases were revealed by Mr Ong so much to the anger of Mr Hisammuddin.  I believe that there have been many cases like these went by unnoticed for fear of rage of the heads like Hisammuddin.  What do you think?  Alamak! what a curse!  What a shame!
The Philippines has been plagued or ‘harassed’ by the menace of corruption and collusion since the time of President Marcos.  Hence the country has plumaged to the state of poverty and economic chaos.  It is plighted with poor image and low self-esteem.  Very few people view it positively.  The Philippines should serve a very good example of the pit of how corruption and collusion would plunge a country into.  It is a good mirror for us to see our situation.  Please don’t take corruption and collusion lightly.
Every mature and well-informed Malaysian has high expectation on PM Abdullah to hack off the cancerous parts of the Dr. M’s ministry.  His twenty over years of ministry has left behind too many “hardcore pickpocket” of the funds.  As we all know, “Bad habits die hard.”  So, PM Abdullah must hack off the cancerous parts and cleanse them thoroughly in order to set on his own ministry to fulfil the trust people have on him.  We want “Mr Clean” to lead a clean ministry or he will be stained sooner or later.
Please practise ‘true’ democracy and let transparency and justice to be the hallmark of governance for Allah / God’s sake.  Allah / God means Love and Justice.  30% of (privilege) to the privileged race is not the true practice of democracy and justice.  Let this 30% of (privilege) to be the fund for the poor and weak regardless of the creed, race and religion.  This is a good way to prevent Marginalisation to take place in any race.  “Skin colour” is but skin deep.  (Beauty is skin deep.)  I can see that a number of you are still obsessed with skin colour.
Her, Khalid, the policies that discriminate will ,definitely, result in marginalisation.  Did you know the practice of quota and the lack of transparency often keep many bright and  brilliant students out of the gate of the local universities of their choice?  These bright and brilliant students spend long hours studying.
If the polices are fair to all, but due to an individual factor or circumstances that a person is marginalised to his own accord.  For example, Ah Chong is ambitious and he works long hours and very hard to fill. He endures all kinds of hardship and difficulties in order to fulfil his ambition.  He even postpones the immediately gratification.    But Ah Bong prefers an easy life as he enjoys “goyang kaki” most of the time.  In the competitive world, of course, Ah Bong is losing out and is marginalised eventually.  This is law of Nature: SURVIVAL FOR THE FITTEST”   It is universal in application and meritocracy is the ruling factor for a society to progress.  Remember, “God helps those who help themselves.”
I think this analogy (which I read it somewhere a few years ago) will help you to understand better.   Samy (Indian), Ahmad (Malay), George (Iban) and Ah Chan (Chinese) are architects.  Among them, George is the best architect of all.  If you have to choose one only, which one would you choose to build the house for you?  Similarly, if they are surgeons, but Samy proves to be best of all, which one would you choose if you need operation?
Well…………………as long as the policies don’t discriminate, marginalisation will never become an issue to bother anyone one of us.  If the policies are fair, but it happens that some people are marginalised, then I think a committee should be set up with fund allocation to ‘de-marginalised’        these people regardless of creed, race or religion.
Look, people are born with different talents and abilities.  But our social structures is often responsible for marginalisation of the people in the strata like factory workers, labourers, salespersons and other unskilled workers.  They are paid incredibly low.  If they don’t have other sources of income, they will be marginalised in the course of time.  It is the fact that the cost of living is getting higher and higher but their salaries are not adjusted accordingly.
In Australia, they have a good and well-organised social welfare system to help the poor and the weak.  Besides, they have the taxation system to reduce the discrepancy between the rich and the poor.

Truth / Lies

Point to Point (20)                           *Truth Or Lies
Truth is truth.  Lie is lie.  They are like water and fire.  They can’t be mixed up at all.  In the age of ICT, people can distinguish truth from lie like water and fire
Almost all of the ministers and leaders of the ruling party said, “The opposition parties won 9 seats out of 71 in 2006 state election because they lied to the people about the government. ”  In other words, people were tricked to support the opposition parties (OPs).
“Ha...............................................”  I was nearly tickled to death to hear this accusation repeatedly.  (In the Chinese language, it is “laugh to death”.).  Alamak!  How come these ministers and leaders are so low-witted to think that the people were so stupid and silly to be tricked and fooled easily?  No wonder they still don’t know the reasons why they lost 9 seats in 2006 state election.  In the past, by hook or by crook, they always almost won all the seats.  Now, overall people are awake and aware of the practice of the government.  People in general know their rights in a democratic country.  The Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Nepal have shown good examples of the power of people.
Sarawak BN backbenchers Club chariman Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (22 July 2003, The Borneo Post, p1 and p 4), still repeated and lamented the same reason for the loss.  They show no “repentance nor introspection” for the alienaton of the people.
They still find all kinds of excuses for the loss which I don’t see as “loss” but a little share.  They should know more and more people expect at least 30 seats out of 71 in the next election if not winning.  I warn you better be prepared for the shock.  There are enough good reasons for me to predict.
1)    Did you know that more and more people are impatient with the land issue?  The rate of premium for renewal is just too exorbitant to make people feel at ease.  The land is alike to the root to the plant and life to the people.  So you know without the root, a plant will die;  without the security and assurance of the land or house, people are prepared to die to fight for justice and justification.
As long as the land code is concerned, the Sarawakians are very
uncomfortable and feel threatened.  Who will take active role and fight for
the rights of the people?  The people know the truth of the land issue.  Lies
have no place in their hearts.  Don’t underestimate the wisdom of the
     people, please.
2)    Did you know that people (very high %) are not happy that the foreign trawlers and ships are plundering our sea day and night, night and day.  Our sea is now poor and scarce of fish.   “Real” fresh fish are too expensive to make us feel composed.  How we hate the ministry of fisheries for the plundering.  What a curse and shame.  The state government let the federal government trepass and trangress too far and too much.  We see these ministers and leaders useless and good-for-nothing. We are thirsty for brave and good leaders to fight for the rights of Sarawakians.  This is truth, not lie.
3)    Did you know that the hikes of oil and gas price are the main cause for creating the downstream effect for the hike of everything in the market?  The burden of living is getting heavier and heavier to 98% of the people.  This is the truth you have to recognise.  People know how much the oil companies earn.  How greedy they are for more and more at the expense of the poor people.  These 9 opposition members are telling you and us the truth, not lie.
We really think 5% oil and gas royalties is too low to speed up the development of Sarawak on par with the standard of development in Peninsula Malaysia.  We want at least 15-20% of royalties.  In our heart, we, no doubt, think that if Federation brings no blessing to the state of Sarawak, breaking off like Singapore will be so much better.  Please don’t classify me to be disloyal or betrayal.  This is the secret “truth” in heart of overall Sarawakians.  If you had a mirror to shine out the truth, you would know that it is the pure truth to witness in our hearts.
Look we are sure it is only the right and brave leaders to possess the
ability  to get the things done.  We really despise and are ever eager to get
rid of those weak and meek leaders and ministers who only care about their
own personal gains and official ranks.
4)    Did you know that the toll of Upper Lanang bridge is unreasonably high?  It
is not compartible to the standard of living of the people in general.  The toll-
bridge is a heavy burden to the daily commuters especially.  It is another
tension in life.  The convenience of the bridge has a high price to pay.  How
can you expect people to feel relaxed with the facility?  Our government
turns deaf ear to the pleads and appeals of the people.  This is truth, not lie.
5)    Did you know that people are frustrated over the poor road system?  Oya
road, as far as, I know is very lousy.  It is winding and narrow.  Check for us
how frequent road accidents happened in this road.  I wonder how much
effort the authorities concerned have put in to improve the condition; how
responsible they have been towards fatal accidents.   I tell you this road
definitely needs urgent and immediate attention.  Or be prepared to be sued
some day.  Another road, i bear witness is the road heading for Durin in Sibu.  It is very dangerously narrow.  I wonder who took charge of the measure of width of Oya road and Durin road.  It is a bloody measurement!!!!
I wonder how soon the authorites concerned will start building lanes for the motorcyclists.(very high % of road users).  Have mercy for them.
There were 7331 cases of road accidents in the first 6 months in 2006!!!!  (30 July, 2006, See Hua Daily Newspaper)  You may attribute it to be the attitude of road users.  But do improve the road conditions before you point finger at them.
6)    Did you know that people are disappointed with the medical service,
standard and facility of the private hospital in Sibu?  Did you know that the
private hospitals and clinics are just too far-fetch and threatening to the poor
and weak?  Did you know that it is very abnormal to have so many private
hospitals and clinics around in town?  Check around where in the world,
there are so many private hospitals and clinics in the country?
Please view this trend of development abnormal or morbid to the general
well-being and welfare of the people.
Did you know that people are very angry to see that the facility and service of the government hospital being so far off the mark and with the standard far from on par with the private hospitals?
Did you know that the private hospitals are too profit-oriented and commercialised to make people stay cool?  Did you know that some people (I know if you want evidence or proof, i will supply you readily.) resort to borrowing in order to seek treatment in the private hospitals?  If you don’t believe, you can investigate through different agencies.  Or open a channel and let people voice out.  Let people, young and old,  tell you the truth of our medical practice everywhere.  What can be truer than the first-hand knowledge!
How can a country reach the standard of a developed country when the basic rights of the people are so deprived and denied?  According to the report (28 July, 2006) , the cost of medical service in country is 10-16% more than the International Preference Price.  Imagine the medical condition in Malaysia.  We want better leaders to overhaul the medical system and practice.
I really see it a curse and disaster to see so many private hospitals and
clinics blooming in such a small town like Sibu.  Robert Lau applauded and lauded  the phenomenon and remarked that Sibu might one day become a medical centre.
Alamak!  What a curse!  What a shame!   He is too rich to feel and understand the poor and weak.  He is too blind to the hard struggle of the 98% Sibuans for a living and a decent shelter.  98% can’t afford the medical service and facility in the private hospitals.  This is truth, not lie.  We hate him beyond words  (hie-ngo yi gou chou siah).  We are eager to get rid of this kind of leader and minister.
7)    Did you know that all the Chinese hate the unfair practice of the government towards the Chinese education?  It is too much discrimination.  Please practise democracy in name and in deed.  Democracy means respect the rights of the people.  Do you show your respect for being fair?  What system of government is Malaysia, democracy or totalitarianism?   Don’t make people despise you and the system.  This country belongs to everyone regardless of creed,  race or religion.
If Allah/ God means Justice and Love, for Allah / God’s sake, be just and fair to every race.  If our country really wants to be on par with the developed countries with democratic form of government like England, USA, Australia, New Zealand and so on, please formulate laws and policies for the well-being and welfare of every citizen in this country.  Let meritocracy rules all.  Don’t let your fancy dictate you anymore.
Did you know that there are far too many private colleges and universities like private hospitals to be viewed normal?  Where on earth are there more private colleges and universities than Malaysia?   It is a curse and can result in disaster in the long-run for the proper development of human resources?
I think that the ministry of higher education should take the letter “V-C’s remarks on private colleges depressing” written by  Datuk Wong Ken Thau, President, Persatuan Institusi Pendidikan, Tinggi Swasta, Sabah (July 31, 2006, The Borneo Post, p. 12) seriously and seek for improvement.  Otherwise, the dream of turning Malaysia into the hub of education in South-east Asia remains a dream to be mocked at.
A small island like Taiwan can afford to have so many state-run colleges and universities, why can’t Malaysia, a natural-resource rich country, offer the same facilities to the people?  Shame on you!!!  What can be a greater shame to see that education has become so commercialised?  It is really depressing and disheartening to see colleges set up in shophouses and survive side by side with the coffee shops and other commercial premises.  This is truth, not lie.
Let’s uphold the system of meritocracy at all cost.  It is the foundation for a fair and just country.  There is, definitely, no short-cut in life.  The practice  of meritocracy, no doubt, is for the good and well-being of everybody in this country.  What can be a better way to teach an individual the virtue of hard work and responsibility to earn his/her respect?
Privilege is only bestowed on the weak and poor.  Physically and mentally abled persons do not seek privileges all the time.  When physically and mentally abled persons seek for privileges,  you will only degrade and debase yourselves as well as lose your stamina to fight for survival and chance to build self-esteem.
Privileges are the breeding grounds for spoilt-rotten and aggressive persons good-for-nothing.  This is the law of nature.
8)    Are you confirmed now that the frequent floods in Sibu are due to the poor drianage system and siltation of the river?  You should have seen enough floods in other highland areas  to know the importance of drianage?  Are you sure now how to settle the problem of floods in Sibu?  Did you know that Sibu people are fed up with these leaders and ministers who squandered so much money to seek for foreign expert opinions on the flood conditions in Sibu?  In the past, they even attributed the causes to  the low-lying situation and natural disaster.  Thus, they shirked their duties and responsibilities to solve the problem.
The fact that they were not  affected by floods much as they don’t
live in flood-prone areas.  Besides, they were lucky because the people in the
past were just too ignorant to seek justification.  Nowadays, people have
become more awake and aware of the duties and responsibilities of these
elected representatives to let them go off easily.  People started thinking
critically,  “Are they worth the meat?”  (They are paid by taxes of the people
and of course people want to know whether they deserve the payment.)
Facing  the same problem repeatedly year after year, of course, people
naturally have resentment and hatred towards these leaders and ministers
who like to boast and bluff a lot.
9)    Did you know that the strength of the opposition parties will grow stronger
and stronger just like the opposition parties in USA and England in order to
counteract the ruling parties? Do you think Asfia is too arrogant to say that
opposition parties in the state do not have status as an alternative
government?  (Tuesday, July 25, 2006, The Borneo Post, p.3).
As long as people know the important roles  opposition parties play to
countercheck the ruling parties,  there is chance for them to become the
ruling parties.  If you  don’t believe, just wait and see!  Did you know how
Kumingtan in Taiwan was toppled by the opposition party then?
          10)  Damn the leaders who resort to threat.  A representative in DUN during July
                20 – August 2 ( I can’t remember which day.  Unfortunately I can’t locate
the article in The Borneo Post ) dared to threaten to relocate the funds from
the areas under the opposition party members to the areas under BN.  I
think this leader is “like a frog in a well” failing to recognise the general
trend of the political climate all over the world.  I believe he still thinks it is
possible to suppress and oppress people with “iron fists”.  How ignorant and
                foolish he is.

Justified

Point to Point (19)
                                                *Justified                       9June2006
“Ha………………………………………………” I was nearly tickled to death (‘laugh me to death’ in the Chinese language)  when I read the article about Dr M (mega-maniac) criticising our present prime minister Abdullah and his government  both in Chinese and English daily newspapers on 8 June, 2006.  Today, I read about how the leaders bombarded and blasted him and supported Abdullah and his government.  Finally, I sensed the democracy in practice gradually.  The 22 + years of Dr. Mega-maniac rule had “upset” the principles of democracy so much so that our prime minister has to “undo despotic and corrupted administration” and we have to relearn the principles of democracy in real essence.   “gher……………………………………….”  (scorn at)(air from the nose)
There is a proverb in Chinese:  “A clever man is tricked/ fooled by his own fanciful acts.”   He self-exposed the blunders and plunders he committed during his despotic ‘reign’ of the nation.  (He has been lucky because the people have not been enlightened enough to force him to face the tribunal of being irresponsible, erratic, uncountable, corrupt, abusive, ………………… )
Not many people were aware how he squandered taxpayers’ money to indulge in the mega projects which served little purpose but a show of the grandeur and wealth at the expense of 99% of the people’s happiness and well-being.  (Ignorant person in politics like me became wide awakened and enlightened.)  I started to probe for truths and facts; phenomena of cause and effect; the curses of his rule.
Not until he pinpointed out the abuse of power in the Approved Permits (APs) for the imported cars, I was exposed very little to the news of corruption.  I did not know that it was so rampant and rotten and spread like cancerous cells.  I knew that his government always “bought” votes for the election.  I witnessed how the ministers paid the voters to be elected.  It had been a common practice.  Ha .……………………………………  I knew people had to bribe the government staff to get things done properly and fast enough.  I knew people could bribe the police easily.  I knew bribery and corruption here and there in the government.  I knew that most leaders were corrupted.  But I was not aware that corruption was so rampant in our country.  I did not know that it was so rotten and cancerous.
I knew that how abusive Marcos had been and how corrupt his administration was.  I knew how abusive Suharto had been and how corrupt his administration was.  I only knew how abusive Dr. Mega-maniac and how corrupt his administration was until he stepped down when our prime minister Abdullah first job in his ministry was “Anti-corruption” act to launch to cleanse and “undo” the bad practice of the former administration.  He even conceptualised the “Institute of Integrity” to foster the practice and re-establish the long-lost virtue.  (Ha…………………………………………)
I did not know how abusive Dr.  Mega-maniac was until he declared publicly when he condemned Abdullah and his government to “axe” the construction of scenic bridge further to the side of Singapore.  It cost the government 1 billion! for the loss.  Alamak.  What a curse! What a shame! (It is enough to pay for all the expenses in Chinese primary schools for a full school year.)  We need really stronger leaders,  people and political system to make him be responsible and accountable for the loss.   (Ha…………………………………………………)  See whether he dares to show up every now and then to upset and disturb Abdullah and his government.  (gher……………………)
I did not know how much money he squandered in constructing Putrajaya buildings and he expected Abdullah to complete the project at Putrajaya.
When Mr Chen, a teacher, fell to his death in school because of termite infected floor, I attributed the incident to the abuse of Dr. Mega-maniac who squandered taxpayers’ money for mega-projects and overlooked the needs for more funds to  Chinese primary school.  (a prejudice and eagerness to suppress the development of the Chinese primary school).
