Democratic rule, as we all know, is
the government of the people, for the people and by the people. In other words it is people-friendly and
centred form of government. How
democratic is our country in essence and reality? Personal experience and perception may tell
the fact in practice.
People’s representatives are chosen to
speak for the people. How much and how
well do they speak for the weak and poor for their hardship and
difficulties or they tune in to be in accord with the
government policies to play safe and forget their promise of responsibilities
for the people?
Freedom of speech is one of the
characteristics of democracy. How free
are the people to express their viewpoints?
Well, Sibu is indeed unique enough to
show off. It happens that our political
leaders are well-linked to the press.
One leader, I tell you, whose family line is well engaged in the
business of press issuing several versions of daily newspaper. Another political leader, whose extended
family owns dominating shares of different newspaper companies in Malaysia. These newspapers are too special to
define. The newspapers are spilled all
over with one-sided political talk in favour of the leaders and the government.
The opposition political parties have
little chance to express their points freely on the main page. Hence they resort to words in bold on banners, placards and posters to express
their frustration, disappointment and anger on behalf of the people to call for
the attenion hoping for rectification.

planning and strategies but failed totally in implementing.)

The opposition party, acts like a
watchdog barking loudly to the deficiency, failure, defects and shortcomings of
the people-unfriendly policies to call
for awareness. Why do you feel so
agitated and irritated whenever the opposition parties pinpoint out the
defects, failures and deficiency of the government agencies?. You hence try all means to suppress and
oppress them hoping to cover up and pretend everything is so perfect and
well-run!. You are, I say, just too
proud and indulgent to admit the shortcomings and faults of the government to
seek remedies for rectifying.
I tell you, we are not at all worried
if the opposition parties are “not capable but

‘bilibala’ “. We are very upset and disheartened when you
(the ruling parties) are so ignorant and foolish as well as adamant to make any
amendments.
When they put up banners, placards and
posters to protest and demonstrate, why are you so agitated and irritated,
eh? You even condemned them at will on
the full main page to vent your anger for being so exposed. Tell us how capable you are.
You indeed know very well
how to blow your own trumpet deafeningly loud
to boost your self-ego and
good-for-nothingness.
You often scream when you
don’t need to do so
When we want you to shout,
you choose to keep your mouths shut
When we want you to speak
out, you observe dead silence
When you don’t need to talk
too much, you give a lengthy speech.

can’t help but shrill at you for being so lousy and blunt. )

friendship and goodwill in the political cliques. )
Woes of floods
If you are so capable as you say, why
can’t you solve the nightmares of floods plaguing people again and again. Why can’t you apply your strategic plans to
mitigate the floods torturing people now and then? When mass floods occurred in 2001, a minister
(a fully-filled food pot)(饭桶) even thought it to be a rare occurence, “once in a
blue moon”. He did declare it on the
front main page “40 over years’ event and a natural disaster”.
As heavy floods struck Kuching the
following year 2002, (I bear witness because I was there.), many people were
bewildered and dismissed it to be an occurence “once in a century”. In 2003, again mass heavy floods “attacked”
twice a year in Sibu and Kuching was not spared. Only then, these capable leaders were panic a
little bit (They were hardly affected by the floods). But these capable leaders still considered lowlying
situation of Sibu to be the cause.
Floods hence become a common feature and frequent occurence in Sibu
especially. Now the areas like Miri and
Bintulu high above sea-level also start flooding as frequent as Sibu, the
capable leaders of Visionary team have become a little more alert.
“Sibu being lowlying are prone to
floods.” has been the excuses for 30-40 over years for the ministers leaders to
shirk their responsibilities. No leaders
have been serious to go ‘to the field‘ to investigate the real causes of the
problem. I wonder how many times they
have ever passed by ‘these flood-prone areas’.
If ‘Malaysia Boleh’, lowlying areas
are not a problem at all as long as these capable leaders of the Visionary team
are sincere, serious and diligent to widen and deepen the drains. I can guarantee you, ‘Sibu can become
flood-free town’ soon.
Identify the causes to solve the
problems:
What really causes floods-prone areas
to keep water in small rain and ‘flood’ water in heavy rain for 3 – 4
hours? Why can’t the water be drained
away readily and fast enough?

When drains fail to drain

Small floods, big floods
go hand in hand
These capable Visionary team leaders,
instead of taking prompt actions to solve the problems, they squandered the
money (million in ringgit) to invite ‘foreign experts’ here to ‘talk and talk’
how to mitigate floods in Sibu. Every
mature Sibuan can enlighten them with the solutions:
Build
and rebuid the drains with the right measure of width and depth to drain freely
and quickly into the river and big sea.
Dredge the river to deepen it to facilitate the flow.
Drains being able to drain well.
I mind you, drains in lowlying areas won’t keep rainwater and drains in
high lying areas won’t ‘flood’ rainwater as well.
When
drains fail to drain, high lying areas will flood like lowlying areas. Look at Miri, Bintulu and other areas in Malaysia. See how the flood-free areas have become
flood-prone areas.
When drains don’t drain, rainwater in
the drain tends to flow ‘vertically’, land sinks naturally. (Correct me if i am wrong)
Sibu = land of Peat Soil?
So you often say Sibu is made up of peat
soil. Find out how many % of the land in
Sibu is made up of peat soil. Have you
planned strategically how to make full and right use of peat soil land in order
to make it shine as well. Making full
use of a thing is a virtue, too. (Bear
in mind, don’t make a fool of yourselves and squander taxpayers’ money
anymore.)
Gas, diesel and oil hike
What a pity the strategic plans they
have so many failed to apply in flood-prone areas. The oil and gas hike are another test of
ability. The oil and gas has hiked 4
times in a span of 26 months. The gas a tank has hiked from RM22.50 to RM28
in a span of 26 months! Only Lily Yong
and Sim King Hui voiced out on behalf of the people. The rest of the ministers spoke in favour
of the government. They were the
spokepersons of the government. They
found excuses for the government for the oil and gas hike. They insisted that the government have good
reasons for the hike. They were
helpless.
Worst of all was Robert Lau. He said, “Sarawak
is an oil producing state and we should share with other states. We can’t keep all for ourselves”. (24/4/2006 See Hua
Daily Newspaper) (government-oriented talk).
I wonder if he shares his business profit: 5% for himself and 95% with
his employees maybe?
40 years ago, those few
representatives (too much profit-minded and self-oriented for personal gain)
signed the agreement (an unforgivable grave mistake). If at that time it were agreed 95% of
royalties to be given to Sarawak and 5% to the Federal government, would he
offer to keep 5% of royalties for Sarawak and
95% of royalties for Federal government?
(can’t be selfish?). (A

It is time for adjustment, dear
capable leaders of Visionary team, compare the discrepancy of development
between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. We contribute 1/3 of the oil. Why are we 20-30 years behind Peninsular
Malaysia in infrastructure development?
Go to ask for 20% of royalties for oil contribution .
Besides, we want a well-structured, staffed, administered and
world-standard university in Sibu. Why
didn’t you say “NO!!!!” to oil and gas hike in a period of 26 months. Bear in mind, Sarawak
is an oil-producing state. We deserve
special rights and privilege. Don’t
obssess with your personal gain and official rank.
Count how many Sarawakians still don’t
have water and electricity supply. Do the survey to find out how many Sarawakians don’t
have decent shelters. (Don’t count in
coop-like or kennel-like low-cost housing.)
Decent shelters are one of the basic needs of the people. But they have become once a again the privilege
of the rich and strong! They are beyond
the reach of, at least, 80% of the people in Sarawak. (Do the survey for me.) For the darers, they have to spend more
than or their whole life paying housing
installments, ha........................................................................
Medical facility and service
It is an individual’s birthright to
enjoy good and up-to-standard medical facility and service. Look at the Sibu General
Hospital. Though it has showed some improvement
compared with the conditions 10 over years ago, it is still fall far below the
required standard. (Here I would like to
relate a story for entertainment. This
year, a friend of mine whose husband had an operation of his heart in Kuala Lumpur. When he was recuperating in Sibu, due to some
mishap, his lungs ‘clogged’ with water.
However, he couldn’t be treated in the Sibu General hospital. As a result he was transferred to Kuching
after some hassle.)
It is disheartening to see so many
private hospitals and clinics mushrooming in Sibu. Find out how many % of Sibuans can afford the
expenses in private hospitals and clinics.
(Recently, i have come across a vegetable stallholder who had a road
accident. She was not sure how long she
had to wait for her turn and how well she could be treated in the Sibu general
hospital. She was forced to choose the
private hospital for the treatment. She
paid -----RM7000!--- for the treatment for two-nights' stay only.) Can you sense the anger, disappointment and
frustration in people? Look, proper
medical service and facility has become the privilege of the strong and
rich. If the poor want the
up-to-standard treatment, you need to resort to borrowing from others!!!! Alamak! What a curse! What a shame!
Robert Lau (a very wealthy minister)
was in jubilant, saying, “Sibu, can some day, become a medical centre!!!”
Yakee....................................... Count how much an average Sibuan can earn. (Sibuans have the lowest pay compared with
those in other towns in Sarawak.) (Yet Sibuans pay highest in parking fee and
business rate assessment taxes.) So many
private hospitals and clinics are disasterous to the total well-being of the
people and the society. (He, no doubt,
encourages “money culture” all the time
being a very wealthy minister. He
does not know the pain, difficulties and hardship of the weak and poor.)
A good governance = good medical
facility and service like Australia
and other developed countries. (We
should look up to Australians, the downers in this respect.) (15-16 years ago, i was there for about a
year, i witnessed and experienced the medical facility and service there.) (so
patient friendly). (I have a brother and
3 sisters living there for good.) (One of my sister constantly supplies me with the
first-hand information of the life there.)
(Just want to prove with
evidence.) Besides, their road
system was another wonder to me. I
really admired their parks and the overall environment. The facilities and implementations were very
“people-friendly”.
Looking East At the Japanese for Model
Up to now, i still can’t understand
why former prime minister, Dr. M (mega-maniac) encouraged us to look up to the
Japanese. (They always invoke in me the
ferocious, atrocious, bloodthirsty, brutal, evil, cruel, barbaric, brutish ......images of the Japanese soldiers
in World War II. It is difficult to
shake off the close association of these negative images of the Japanese
whenever anything about the Japanese is mentioned.)
Yes, Japan has become a very wealthy
nation (Is it the second wealthiest country?), to the envy of many countries
all over the world. The country lacks
natural resources in every sense. Yet
the Japanese can attain such wonders of success through mere diligence, strict
discipline, great determination and endurance to excel. Hence, the Japanese products are guaranteed
of quality. It is an economic power
and a world winner. I wonder how much
they have paid for this great success.
(Is it true that the Japanese are liable to death of fatigue? Is it true that the Japanese are willing to
sacrifice the families for the success of their companies? Is it true that many Japanese women suffer
Retired Husband Syndrome?) In terms of
the assessment of physical and spiritual
health, natural environment, family and social life and the like, I wonder how much the Japanese have to pay
for the glory of their great success?
(Our love for
Japanese products has somehow neutralised our hatred towards brutality of the
Japanese soldiers in the past. )
Leadership
Leadership is a very influential factor in
developing countries. Leaders can decide
the fate and the trend of a country to a full extent. There was also an article about how influential leaders can be in
developing countries. ( See Hua Daily
Newspaper 23/4/2006). The leaders like Marcos in the Philippines, Suharto in Indonesia and Thaksin in Thailand are good models of bad
leadership and how they led the countries into the state of great economic
woes, hardship and difficulties as a result of corruption and collusion. (The law of cause and effect.)
a) Lust, greed and indulgence
When a leader is so obsessed with
power, great show of success and vainglory, it can lead the country to very
dreadful and tragic state of being. Now
let’s take a look at Dr. M (mega-maniac), a bloody, power-thirsty leader and see
how much disaster he created during his 22 years + of tenure as a prime
minister in Malaysia. Assess how much sacrifice, misery, hardship
and difficulties people had to endure during his ministry when he proposed to
build ‘KL Twin Towers’ and ‘palace-like’ prime ministry building in Putra Jaya
and so on. Did he care about the essence
of democracy? It was very much one-man
play and modern form of despotism in the name of democracy. Are these two buildings compatible to the
general housing conditions in Malaysia?
He was obsessed with natural resources
and thought of all means to plunder and exploited in the name of
development. He insisted on the
development of the Bakun Hydroelectric Dam in order to ‘sell’ the electricity
to other South-east Asian countries without consideration of the long term
adverse cause-effect to the ecological balance in the area. Unnecessary development only leads to unnecessary
wastage and pollution. He cared only how
much wealth he could amass in the mega-project he was engaged in.
b)
vainglory
I don’t know what he wanted to express
when he proposed the building of ‘KL Twin Towers’. I wonder how useful and practical the
building is but a show of its height and his vainglory. It is indeed built at the expense of people’s
well-being and needs for proper shelters.
Look at the state of the primary, secondary, and university, the standard of medical facility and service,
quality of the roads (No wonder our country has a very high rate of fatal
accidents) and the like.
c)
unscrupulous
The palace-like mega-building of Putra
Jaya is so mismatched with the 90% of the shelters of the people. I wonder how many terrace houses can be built
with the money lavished on such a splendid building. (I guess he was well-prepared to live like an
emperor.) (He gave me the impression
like Ching Shih Huang, a Chinese emperor who built the Great
Wall of China at the expense of the people’s misery and suffering.
) (However, he was lucky enough to have
left before people revolted. At that
time, Suharto, in Indonesia,
faced the tribunal of the people. He had
somehow come to some awareness of the happening of leaders being ousted by the
people. Marcos in the Philippines: Suharto in Indonesia ....... ha..............
) (Hence he had no choice but was forced
to hand the authority hastily to our present prime minister, Abdullah.)
d)
Too arrogant and aggressive
He was too arrogant to check how
corrupt and rotten the administrative system was under his ministry. Hence, our present prime minister has been
burdened with the task of eliminating the deep rooted problem of corruption and
collusion. (the law of cause and
effect). He has to put in great effort
to correct the aberrant administrative system, poor Pak Lah! (No doubt, absolute authority = absolute
disintegration.)
e)
Narcissus, self-greatness and megalomaniac
He was despotic in inclination, a
narcissus and megalomaniac. He indulged in
his charm as a leader so much so that he was unaware of the mistakes he
committed again and again. Up-to-now, I
think he is still not aware of the disaster he has created. For example, the car industry, his brainchild,
(another white elephant project) to upkeep with the taxpayers’ money.
(spoilt-rotten) (I wonder whether a
feasibility studies had been carried out and then the report before
implementation.) (I am really curious to
know how much profit he gained from this mega-project.) (It is reported that Marcos ‘stole’ US20
billion from the public fund during his 20+ years in power. )

Responsibility and Accountability
Did he request for feasibility studies
and reports for all the development projects?
What about the scenic bridge? The
decision to axe the further construction caused the government to lose of RM 1
billion. If it were again a one-man
decision without the feasibility studies and reports, he definitely should be responsible and
accountable for the loss. In simple
words, ask him to pay, why not? What is
a better way for a leader to learn to be humble and practise democracy at all
cost.
g)
infallibility
He was too despotic to know his own
fallibility. Again and again, he made
mistakes but he insisted that he was infallible. He is supposed to retire and leave the scene of administration
totally. However, his lust for and
obsession with power and control can’t keep him calm and still. Hence, he appears every now and then to
disturb and upset Abdullah’s rule of the country. What a shame!!!
h)
downstream effects
The Chinese proverb “Not properly
aligned upper beams lead to poor alignment of the lower beams of the
building.” (上梁不正，下梁歪) Similarly, a leader who does
not lead by examples will result in poor downstream effects on his subordinates.
The downstream effects of Mega-maniac are in full expression of the people in
the vainglory to “break records” of being “highest, biggest, longest, most in
number or quantity .............”. I
guess you might have witnessed such unusual sights as a super-sized pizza being
baked; a long long national flag being made;
many sofas being connected to break record; many anti-mosquito thumb
prints being collected.............................ha..........................
How many leaders of the Visionary team
really represent the people? And how
many policies implemented are people-centred and friendly? Our prime minister, Abdullah said, “The
polices implemented and the infrastructures built are to facilitate people not
frustrate them.” (24/4/2006 The Borneo
Post) What do you think of tress
planting and big big potted plants placing at the expense of parking space
before the shops? Again, it is the piece
of masterwork of despotic rule in a one-man show.
Tolls of bridge
The bridge users need to pay heavy
tolls to cross the Lanang bridge. A
lorry is charged RM 15; a car RM 5; motorcycle RM 1 and RM0.50. Is it
reasonable? People have to pay taxes for
almost everything and they still have to pay fee while crossing the bridge

much!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The leaders have become too greedy, lustful and
selfish. They are like sharks, never
feel satisfied. They never feel full no
matter how often and how much they eat.
“To support the government, you are
guaranteed of development!” our
low-witted ministers often blasted the statement. It is too obsolete to appeal. It is too
ridiculous to convince. Look, people pay
taxes and people deserve to be provided with all the basic infrastructure
facilities. Malaysia is a democratic,
(people-friendly and centred), form of government. Whom to support, isn’t it people’s right to choose? How much allocation of money is needed for
development, does it depend on the needs of the people? How come our ministers often threaten and
abuse the people (the master of democratic rule) like that? I think our ministers should make some effort
to study how the other developed countries like Australia,
America, England and so on develop the
different places in their countries.

in the position to represent the Chinese.”
What do they represent? They did
not know to list out the items to be discussed ... .....ha........ We see them represent nothing but their
personal gain and official rank.
