Occupation Permits a straight forward matter, says Wong. (Home, The Borneo Post, Thursday, January 19, 2012.)
Now let’s discuss how straight forward the matter it is.
Occupation Permits (OP) for new houses will be issued so long as all rules and regulations are complied and fulfilled, said Minster of Local Government and Community Development Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh yesterday.
Yes, …………very good. Perfectlah. But…..with such perfect rules and regulations, how come there are quite a number of house owners cannot be prevented from occupying their houses at their own risk. What for to have such perfect rules and regulations that fail to protect house buyers properly. I mean the houses which are under SMC jurisdiction.
He explained that there was a proper procedure to follow, involving the consultations, developers and the relevant authorities.
I wonder how proper the procedure to follow that still enabled the house owners to occupy the house without Occupation Permits. I think Wong Soon Koh must be using his stomach to think and his intestines big and small to process. Otherwise, how come such a proper procedure to follow, the house owners still fell prey to the unscrupulous developers again and again. We should check and find out how many house owners occupy their houses without Occupation Permits
Wong also reminded house buyers to be aware of their rights as customers.
No doubt, house buyers need to be aware of their rights as customers and always remember to climb up to the attic to double check from now onwards when the authorities and the developers are damned unreliable. Isn’t it ridiculous having the authorities concerned who created laws so perfect but serve little purpose. What for to have Occupation Permits when house buyers still can occupy the house without them?
This is a normal process, where there is a checklist to go through. If they fulfilled and complied with all the steps provided in the checklist, they should be no problem in giving out the OP.
Perhaps, somebody along the way must have missed some steps. If they follow the rules and regulations and go through the normal process, nothing should happen, he said when asked on matter pertaining OP.
It is the confirmed truth. It is also confirmed truth that house occupants living from Units 6 – 8 at Lane 13, RTM road were occupying the house without OP when the tragedy took place. No matter how, I think he should answer the question how can house buyers be allowed to occupy the houses without aOP.
When asked if there was a law to compel developers to get the OP within a certain timeframe upon completion of a housing project. Wong said it was more important for house buyers to know their rights.
It is bloody and irresponsible to push this responsibility to house buyers when he claimed that there is a proper procedure to follow for consultants, developers and authorities. What a shameless and insensible man he is! If he were a minister in Japan, he would have to bow more that 90 degrees and be flushed. But here in Malaysia no BN leaders since the era of Makhatir (Dr M) has any sense of shame and knows their responsibility related to their office. We people collectively should be more determined to flush him out and get out of our sight. He is just disgusting.
They can’t pay when things are not done. House owners must know their rights and make sure that things are ready before they pay.
Yes, ……….but if house owners were that sensible, the problems of occupying the house ‘illegally’ would not happen again and again. This will happen again if the demand is not focused on the developers to comply and fulfil the conditions as required within the timeframe. I think Wong Soon Koh is just too obsessed with his position and self-interest to think sensibly. He is just too mean to take responsibility He is just too developers-friendly to think of how to protect house buyers. Alamak! What a curse! What a pity! What a shame to have this kind of mean and ugly man to be our minster of Local government and Community Development .
Doesn’t the local government /SMC exist to facilitate and protect people? If their existence is not to facilitate and protect, what is it for to have this agency?
Asked about the coordination between the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), Sibu Water Board (SWB) and Sesco on OP issues, he said it was up to the consultants and developers to make available utilities such as water and electricity
This is where the problem resides because we have such a lousy damned bloody and irresponsible fool who has no idea “what a proper procedure” means. If these developers really followed the proper procedure, they would not be able to apply for water and electricity supply without OP. Without water and electricity supply, no house buyers would move in and no such problems like peeping Toms and the tragedy at Lane 13, RTM would occur. Damned idiot we have to be our minister whom we tried to flush out on 416 in 2010 but he stayed on when he fished the votes from the ignorant kampung folk through the business of vote buying and selling.
I hope DAP-PR would organise protest to force him to resign for the tragedy at Lane 13, RTM.
On behalf of the deceased Ling Tong Hock, the victim of the brutal killing at Lane 13, RTM road, I plead you not to drop the case but think of every possible way to sue SMC for their abuse of power and the unscrupulous developer for breaching the agreement to build the house according to the specifications. We, Sibuans 99% want DAP to act on our behalf to bring SMC and the concerned developer to court for the gruesome happening.
The gruesome tragedy took place on the 3rd January, 2012 at Lane 13, RTM road was due to the malpractice of Tiong Thai King, the chairman of Sibu Municipal Council (SMC).He is also holding so many posts like a superman.
Due to the malpractice of Tiong Thai King, hence the said developer could go ahead to apply for water and electricity supply for the terraced houses at Lane 13, RTM road. The house buyers from unit 6 to 10 did not have the firebreak wall to the date when the tragedy happened. They just fell victims to this unscrupulous developer who had applied the water and electricity for them. However, Tiong Thai King, the chairman just played blind to these illegal house occupants.I do not know how many house owners in Sibu are without occupation permits.
It the firebreak walls had been done properly at Lane 13, RTM road, this brutal killing could have been avoided.
I hope DAP-PR will help the deceased Ling Tong Hock sue SMC and that unscrupulous developer for RM ONE MILLION (RM1, 000,000) to be paid to his son Kelvin Ling who has survived from the attack and his stepmother who is said to be expecting a baby.We want to see Justice be upheld at all cost.
The municipal council will not issue occupation permits (OP) for building that are not built according to their construction plans, said the council’s deputy chairman Daniel Ngieng Kiong Ann in a press conference here yesterday.(11th Wednesday, January, 2012.P.4 Home, The Borneo Post)
Well……… did SMC know that at least 10% (according to somebody’s guesses or may be more) occupy their houses illegally without occupation permits to date?
But…… how come without Ops, the house occupants were allowed water and electricity supply from SESCO and Water Board illegally? This is the question we Sibuans want to know.I wonder how coordinated SMC, SESCOand Water Board are in the process. It appear so sneaky, too.I wonder if there is again due to corruption and collusion between SMC-SESCO and Water Board in the operation.
It is true that Ops have not been issued for 5 houses in the row of terraced houses at Lane 13, RTM road when 4 members of a family were brutally killed on Jan 3.
“In fact, there has been no application for the permit, ” he said, adding that a few other blocks in the neighbourhood were also without Ops.
But ………how come SMC did not take any action at all before 3rd Jan. 2012 knowing that these people occupied the houses illegally though they all paid the assessment fees promptly?Tell us!House occupants may play ignorant but SMC should not follow suit!
It is true that the 17-year-old boy due to the lacking of firebreak wall that enabled him to make an easy access and sneaked through the attic easily and entered the square-opening in the bathroom upstairs of the Unit 8 in the row of the 10 houses committed the crime.
On the 3rd Jan. killing, he said it was not right to put the blame on the absence of firebreak walls in the attic
But…….very very…. Sibuans think that SMC, being the manager of the Sibu town, not wrong! Our argument is, I repeat, how come without Ops, the house occupants were allowed to apply for electricity supply from SESCO and water from Water Board illegally?Be more organized, SMC and learn to be more accountable.
Meanwhile, SMC Building Control and Town Beautification standing committee member Robert Lau said house purchasers had the right to demand the developer or contractor to build the firebreak walls if their houses were found not having one
Well……SMC should have checked first to ensure that this partition in the attic is done properly before the issuing of the Ops and then the house occupants may apply for water and electricity supply. You, bloody fools, understand?Be more organised and responsible.
Proper partition of the house from bottom to the top is a must by law but how come no partition of the attic just happened again and again before 3rd Jan. 2012 in Sibu.I wonder how many % of Sibuans knew about it before this gruesome happening? It is really damned fools to expect house purchasers to climb up to check.Who in Sibu had thought of checking this partition or had knowledge of it?I only came to know about it in this incidence.Applying for occupation permits, is it not the business of SMC and the developers?Alamak! What a curse! What a pity! What a shame!
“It is a social issue.Maybe a parenting problem or someone is just born sick, “ he said.
It is bloody and irresponsible to say like that.Since nobody is born to become corrupt like our BN political thugs, I believe nobody is just born so sick to kill.Corruption and collusion is so rampant in Malaysia because we have the conducive environment to do so as our 3 pillars of democracy are not aligned properly.Hence I see Khir Toyo who stole millions and abused his power so much during his tenure as …… in Selangor was sentenced to 12 months in jail only though his palace-like house is confiscated to date. But I see another case of theft that the man stole an oven but was subjected to 12 months’ jail, too. Thus, I wonder what kind of Justice we have in Malaysia.
Many people like me know the boy killed because he was discovered for trespassing and fearful of the consequences and thus resorted to killing in order to cover up his misbehavior. It is not a planned killing / murder. It is the spur of the moment. How come Daniel Ngieng, our deputy chairman of SMC, being so illogic and irrational to put the blame on parenting and the culprit.
Based on my analysis, the culprit, had not been rightfully occupied all the time.He did not have right vocation and mental occupation to lead a happy and normal life.I believe he is a very daring and intelligent boy but……….he has not been guided and helped properly by parents and society as a whole.Parenting may be a problem. But our psychological and social environment have become so deteriorated that many happenings to the teenagers are beyond the power of the parents to take reign.Just take the cases of bullying in school for an example, look, we young and old, all witness how Dr. M bullied Anwar, how Najib and Muhyiddin and other BN political thugs condemn Anwar and other PR leaders through various mass media at will.
Well, this gruesome killing should have taught every Sibuan a very good lesson: Never trust SMC and the BN government anymore. We people collectively bottom-up should be more responsible for everything that concerns us and our environment, be it physical, psychological and social.
I hope that the chairman and the deputy chairman will be more responsible and organised.Avoid making the same mistakes again or we will have to face the people we collectively will chant up to step down:
Damned fool! Damned fool! Tiong Thai King, the chairman of SMC!Step down!Step down! You step down. You damned fool are not qualified to rule Sibu.
Damned fool! Damned fool! Daniel Ngieng, the deputy chairman of SMC! Step down!Step down! You step down. You, damned fool, are not qualified to rule Sibu.
For the house occupants without Ops at Lane 13, RTM road, I hope these house owners collectively take action to sue the contractors / developer for their irresponsibility. You may condemn SMC, too for playing ignorant and innocent!
