If a tiger could talk

                      If a tiger could talk,

                      I am for sure

                      He would seek justification

                      He would plead for justice

                      To assess the sins

                       Committed by man and the tiger.

                  

                      He would question:

                      “What justification is that: ”

                       For man to eat tiger

                       And what a fuss

                       Man creates

                       What an uproar man can stir up

                       When a tiger eats a man.

                 

                       Man has invented many methods

                       To trap and kill the tiger

                        And yet tigers have always been condemned as ‘ferocious’.

               

                        We, tigers, have been so abused, oppressed and suppressed

                        Just because we couldn’t talk.

                       

                        Man’s population has exploded

                        At the expense of us tigers

                        We are at the verge of extinction.

                        We eat when we are hungry.

                        It’s the need of an instinct to live.

                        A tiger eats man

                        Who trespasses and transgresses

                        Too much to spare.

                        But man eats tigers

                        For your wilful and fanciful thoughts

                        To believe that we tigers have the power

                        To enhance your constitution and longevity.

                         We bite and eat man, simple and easy

                         Man, on the other hand

                         Slaughters, skins, chops, cuts, saws, hacks

                         Pounds, mashes, mints……to anatomise us.

                         Then you boil, bake, fry, grill, marinate,

                         Roast, steam, stew …………us tigers.

                         To be fair

                       I implore you to be conscientious

                       To ponder on the questions:

                        Who eats who?

                        Who is more ferocious:  man  or tiger

                        Every bite you take

                        On our hearts, lungs and flesh

                        Please chew slowly and cautiously

                        Never swallow us hastily.

                       

                        Good gracious!

                        You are well-off        

                         And we are miserable.

                        You are too self-centred, dominating and exploiting

                        To satisfy your selfish aims

                        Your judgement of Good or Bad

                        Is entirely based on the benefits

                        You can extract from other living things

                        You, human being couldn’t tolerate

                        Any revolt against your exploitation

                        You brand us ‘ferocious’

                        Just because we pose threat to your authority

                        To dominate and exploit

                         Did you know how

                         You transgress and trespass our territory?

                        Did you know how

                        Greedy, cruel, selfish and senseless you are.

       

                        Did you know that

                        You are destroying yourselves

                        And pass your own death sentence:

                        When all kinds of flora and fauna become extinct

                        You are actually laying the road of death for yourselves

                        When the ecological system is upset

                         You, human beings will lose the foothold of life.

                         Did you know that

                         We are all abide by

                         The law of nature

       

                         We are interdependent and in contra-interdependence

                         In the ecological system

                         Ponder over it.

please help me to look around

                where the fish in the deep blue sea  have swum away!

                Dear brethrens, please help me to find out

                where the fish in the deep sea  have fled! 

               

                Please help me to observe

where the fish in the deep blue sea  have gone!

                Please check for me

if our fish in the deep blue sea have been all gobbled

by some greedy people

                Please investigate for me

if our fish in the deep blue sea have been traded

for a lot of cash!

                Please detect for me

if our fish in the deep blue sea have been sucked

into a fathomless pit!

                Please count for me

how many fish we still possess in our deep blue sea

                Please meditate for me

to find out the reason why our rich sea is so deprived of fish now!!!!

                Why our fishermen say, “Hard to catch fish nowadays!!!!”

                Why our fishmongers say, “No fish for sale!”

                Why everybody says, “No fish to buy!!!!”

                Good gracious!  What a curse!  What a shame!

                What has gone wrong with our deep blue sea

once abound with variety of fishes

               

                Dear brothers and sisters,

please be more self-motivated

to look around to see where the fish

in the deep blue sea have swum away!

                Please try harder to find out

where the fish have fled!!

               

Please be more observant to discover

where the fish have gone

               

Please think harder if our fish in the deep blue sea

have really been all gobbled by some greedy people!

               

Please be more responsible to investigate

if it is true some people by hook or by crook

have traded our deep sea fish for a lot of cash

               

Please be more meticulous to search

if there is really a fathomless pit 

sucking away our fish in the deep blue sea

               

Please be more attentive to count and calculate

to discover how many fish we still have in our deep blue sea!

                Please be calm and composed enough

to ponder why our rich sea is deprived of and poor now!

                Alamak!  What a curse!  What a shame!

                Dear brothers and sisters,

please ask yourselves how much love and concern

you have for our land and sea!

                Please ask yourselves how attentive you are

to the plight and disaster plaguing to our land and sea.

                Ask yourselves how much you have done

to conserve and preserve our land and sea

                Ask yourselves how sensible you are

to the pain and cries of our land and sea

towards our plundering and greed !!!!

                Ask yourselves how serious you are

to become enlightened with the laws of Nature

                Ask yourselves what you can do now

to salvage our land and sea!!!

        Stop plundering our sea day and night.

        Stop renewing licences to the foreign trawlers and ships.

        Stop abusing your power, you bloody ministry of fisheries.

        How many pleads do we have to make to reach you?

        How many protests do we have to repeat to alert you?

        How loudly do we have to cry, scream, shout, shriek, shrill, squeak and squeal

to hit you to your senses?

       

Did you know that our sea is near to exhaustion

because of the foreign trawlers and ships plundering day and night?

       

        If you don’t believe, do the survey in all the fish markets in Sarawak

to find out the truths and facts.

        If you are still not sure that our sea is very and very exhausted,

just dive into the sea to investigate yourselves.

        You, bloody ministry of fisheries.

        Can’t you see how frustrated our Sarawak local fishermen are

when they often fail their daily catch?

        Can’t you hear how exasperatedly they express their disappointments

when the ministry of fisheries take their appeals lightly?

        Can’t you feel the desperation the Sarawak fishermen are in

when their livelihood is deprived of and assaulted?

        Can’t you sense the urgency of the condition needing immediate remedy?

        Stop plundering and abusing once and for all!!!!   

        Don’t let your greed and lust blind you

to see the frustration of our Sarawak fishermen.

        Don’t let the clinks and clanks of the money to deafen you 

from hearing their screams, cries, shrieks, shrills, squeaks and squeals

        to express their disappointments.

        Don’t let your indulgence in the luxuries of life

to numb all your senses to feel their desperation

        don’t let your fancies and ignorance to rule you

to believe that the sea is inexahaustible

and tipping off the delicate balance of the ecological system is impossible.

        From my 8 years plus of marketing experience in Sibu,

I bear witness, of the variety and the number of fresh fish

are getting less and less. 

        This year, even in the months of June and July,            

the supply of fresh fish is scarce and poor, scarce and poor!

The fresh and variety fish supply from March to October

was bountiful in the past especially in June and July

        But this year, the supply of fresh fish, not to say variety, is very scarce and poor.

        Alamak!  What a curse!  What a shame!

        Plundering and abusing have so deprived of our sea with rich resources.

        Didn’t you know our sea can’t stand anymore plundering and abusing.

        Our sea is very and very exhausted now

due to long years of plundering and abusing day and night.

        Don’t you know the law of sustainability?

       

Corruption and collusion, no doubt, break all the rules and regulations.

        Tell us how many licences have been issued

to the foreign trawlers and ships through bribery!

        Tell us clearly and exactly how many foreign trawlers and ships

are plundering and abusing our sea?

        Return the sea to our Sarawak fishermen and people!

        Return this bounty to the locals in Sarawak!

        We deserve plenty and variety of fish,

cheap and fresh!  Fresh and cheap!

        You, bloody ministry of fisheriers, let our sea alone!

        Stop plundering our sea day and night!

        Stop renewing licences to the foreign trawlers and ships!

        Stop abusing your power!

        Do you want to know what would happen

        When you ignore the frustrations people endure?

        Do you want to know what would happen

when their disappointments are not attended to?

        Do you want to know what would happen

when the people are in desperation?

        Do you want to know what would happen

when their plights are not solved readily? 

        The frustrations, disappointments, desperations and plights

        Would conglomerate into resentment and hatred

        Well, how destructive these pented up resentment and hatred would be,

I think, only the time could tell

when death, not longer, pose any threat to life

        when people take laws into their hands

        it would be too late for you to plead for any settlement.

        Bloody ministry of fisheries, indeed, has to face bloodshed some day.

       

        When people brush aside death

to seek for justice and justification,

you would see but endless people

in the file awaiting to fight to death

for justice and justification!!!!!!!!!!!
