‘Residents complain no end to water woe’(The Borneo
Post/BP 12/June/2914). Ya, about 35,000 in
Simunjan have been so affected by low lever of reservoir water since last month
to date.
Ya, they have related the issue to Naroden, their
representative but he is as helpless as ‘a baby’. Instead of thinking every possible way, he chose
to ignore them.
Hence the people resorted to asking JKR for water
rationing but they failed to provide either.
The PKR pact even helped them stage a demonstration to get attention but
to no avail.
This again I think Simunjanians should wake up from
their slumber and show their determination for a change: No more support for the BN representative
anymore.
For this, the community leaders should set their minds
for change and lead their communities wisely and selflessly all for the good
and improvement.
Check to find out whether it is true each of the BN
representatives is allocated ONE million in ringgit for Minor Rural Project/MRP.
Check how many representatives are
willing to give out.
‘Long Road to help Penans’ (BP 16June2014) See how these volunteers from the Brunei
Rotary Club led by the artist Tan Wei Kheng helped the Penans in Ba Bare.
It is the ‘heart’ that counts, despite of difficulties
and hardships, they tried to build a dam at the top of a mountain and to pipe
in water all the way to their houses.
They paid for everything renting the trucks to
transport the materials to install pipes to get clean water from the mountain
as the people cannot use the polluted water from the stream /river nearby.
The logging activities have polluted the water there. In sympathy, Tan mooted the ideas and got the volunteers to help install piped water from the mountain top.
I hope they will shoot documentary film to show the
world if you have the ‘heart’ to do something, you can move the mountain. Why doesn’t the BN government have the short
and long term plans to solve this problem?
Tan and his friends from the Brunei Rotary Club would go to other villages nearby to help, too. It took them 7 hours to reach Ba Bare from Miri. But they did not mind as they really wanted to help the poor and weak people there. Who is the representative there???????
